Facebook's updation from www to web.facebook.com for being more descriptive ~ Tic Droid

Hope you guys wonder ,what made Facebook to change its main domain to a sub domain that especially represents a laptop or PC access.

Then here comes the description.Its all about a change from Facebook's side to help new people to know which type of Facebook website they are accessing.

For example,the previous website automatically redirects to www.facebook.com or m.facebook.com ,when we point our browser to Facebook.com or Fb.com.

Here are some real redirects from Facebook servers.

Laptop/PC

facebook.com -> https://web.facebook.com
fb.com -> https://web.facebook.com

Mobile

From any valid requests to Facebook's server will redirect you to https://mobile.facebook.com.

Nowadays, most large sites have a "web" interface, intended for larger computers and laptops, and a "mobile" interface, intended for phone-based browsers or the backend of a phone-resident app.

Sometimes there are two mobile worlds: one that's accessible from a phone browser, and another that's accessible from an on-phone app, which typically has a better UI than the phone browser interface.

So don't worry ,if your browser redirects to web.facebook.com or mobile.facebook.com when you just type fb.com or facebook.com from your mobile or laptop/PC.Its not a phishing attempt or something.Its an official one from Facebook.
